Over 12 million orphans live on the streets of India today - one million will die within a year. Those who survive are sold into prostitution, the slave trade, or are forced to have limbs amputated to make them more effective beggars. ICM's Church Builders India work is providing homes for these children through the Church in India by building orphanages. |

More about our work in India
To date ICM has 1,097 churches and 47 church-based orphanages built or under construction. This is a precious work as the people of India are dominated by Hinduism which follows the caste system and teaches reincarnation. To a system such as this, Christianity brings great freedom. The Bible affirms the human dignity of all humans and the free invitation for everyone to find salvation in Christ, no matter what their place in life. Many barriers stand in the way of this message of freedom, but as communities of believers congregate in new church buildings their praises rise to heaven and the Word goes forth. |
